The Kronos Workshop is a peer-led approach to introducing the principles of Root-Cause Rehabilitation inside prisons.

Not every prison is prepared to implement a ten-month rehabilitation program. Many prisons face limitations in staffing, funding, volunteers, and available resources. The Kronos Workshop was developed as a practical way to introduce the ideas behind Root-Cause Rehabilitation without requiring a full Kronos Project implementation.

The workshop uses stories, discussion, personal reflection, and guided conversation to explore a simple question: What shapes a person’s choices?

Participants are introduced to many of the same principles found throughout Root-Cause Rehabilitation, including personal responsibility, life experiences, relationships, beliefs, self-worth, and the factors that often influence behavior long before criminal conduct occurs.

The workshop is built around three resources: The Kronos novel, a Facilitator Guide, and a structured workshop process. Together, these resources create a practical framework that can be introduced in almost any prison environment.

The long-term goal is not simply to conduct workshops. The goal is to develop peer-led workshops that continue long after the initial introduction.

Following one or more pilot workshops, potential inmate facilitators can be identified and trained to lead future workshops. A prison staff member provides oversight while trained inmate facilitators guide discussions and help other inmates explore the principles of Root-Cause Rehabilitation.

This approach reflects one of the beliefs that helped inspire Kronos from the beginning: the greatest resource within any prison is its inmates.

Over time, a prison can develop a sustainable workshop program that continues introducing inmates to the principles of Root-Cause Rehabilitation through peer leadership, guided discussion, and shared learning.
